Headstart

Head Start is a free preschool program for income eligible children ages three to five. Children must be three years old before September 1st of the school year. Children attend class four days a week for 6 hours each day, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. We serve a nutritious breakfast, lunch and snack.

Head Start believes the parent is the first and most important teacher of their child. Each family receives 3-4 home visits and 3 parent teacher conferences to set goals for their child, to visit about their child’s progress, and give them program and community information. Three parent meetings are held during the year. Parents are also encouraged to serve on Policy Council which is a voice for all parents with children enrolled in Head Start.

Head Start is in session from September to May. Recruitment efforts for the coming school year will begin in late May and continue until mid-June. If you would like to enroll your child or know of a family who would like to enroll their child in our program, please call 1-800-992-1710, ext 600 or online at unitedcapmn.org
